Food Labelling Services comments:

Food companies have a duty to tell consumers what is in their products, and allowing consumers to make an informed choice to keep themselves safe. The consultation, which closes on the 29th March will consider 4 options:

Option 1 - No change to current law.

Option 2 - add 'Ask the Staff' stickers to packaging. Staff would have to be knowledgeable on allergens and provide information orally and in writing if asked.

Option 3 - label food with the name of the food and list of allergens

Option 4 - label food with the name of the food, full ingredients list with allergens emphasised.

In our opinion, option 3 or 4 would be the most informative methods of communication, and would eliminate any risk of misunderstanding.
