Should alcohol health warnings and ingredient lists appear on-label, off-label, or not at all

Alcohol-related harm is a major public health concern in the EU. In the EU's Europes Beating Cancer Plan, it is proposed that there will be a mandatory indication of the list of ingredients and the nutrition declaration on alcoholic beverage labels before the end of 2022 and
of health warnings on labels before the end 2023.

Food Labelling Services comments:

There has been a mixed reception to this EU proposal across Europe, with countries and sectors having differing views. Wine could be exempt under this proposal, as it is seen as a more 'social' drink and brings people together. This will affect exporters from GB into Europe and Northern Ireland, and we will await to see whether there will be any similar proposal from the UK government.
